Full Description

**The starting salary package for this position is £70,824 GBP / approx. $94,935 USD including all allowances.**

**About MAG:**

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in over 40 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

**About the role:**

In this role, you will be based in Trinidad & Tobago, with regular travel across the Caribbean, delivering critical Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) activities across multiple projects. You will work directly to reduce risk and strengthen safe practices in complex environments by conducting EOD and weapon destruction tasks, providing training to national partners, and supporting the Construction Manager in the rehabilitation and/or development of safe storage and operational facilities. You will lead and mentor technical teams, ensuring rigorous adherence to safety standards while building local capacity for long-term impact. Working closely with the Technical Lead, you will help ensure operations are delivered safely, effectively, and to a high professional standard.

This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across varied Caribbean contexts, contribute to meaningful, life-preserving work, and play a key part in strengthening sustainable WAM systems throughout the region.

**About the MAG Caribbean programme:**

The MAG Caribbean programme plays a key role in building national and regional capacity to address firearm-related violence, enhance public safety, and promote long-term stability across the region. The Caribbean region experiences some of the highest levels of violence in the world, with violent death rates nearly three times the global average. Firearms are used in over half of all homicides, presenting a serious challenge to safety and security across the region.

In partnership with CARICOM IMPACS, MAG is working to strengthen weapons and ammunition management across the Caribbean. Through a series of technical assessments, MAG has identified critical gaps and priority areas where targeted support and training are most needed. Building on this foundation, MAG will continue its vital work in the region by expanding assessments and training to additional CARICOM Member States, while also providing technical assistance in weapons destruction and management.

**Requirements:**

We’re looking for an experienced EOD professional who can lead and deliver complex field operations in challenging environments. You will have a strong background in bulk demolitions, large-scale disposal and logistics operations, and strong knowledge of ordnance across Land, Air, and Naval domains. You are confident managing and developing teams, delivering training, and managing complex stakeholder relations with national and regional military units. Highly organised and adaptable, you can plan, coordinate, and report effectively while maintaining high technical and safety standards.

You are comfortable working independently for extended periods and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach under pressure. A strong commitment to humanitarian principles and the ability to operate professionally in diverse, cross-cultural settings is essential.

**We’re looking for someone with:**

- EOD Level 3+ (Bulk Demolitions) qualification
- Experience delivering EOD and Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) disposal operations in developing countries, particularly in environments affected by explosive remnants of conflict

- Demonstrated experience in Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) including conducting assessments, providing training and supporting oversight of refurbishment projects

Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. For more information on MAG’s approach to safeguarding and background checks on our website**.**

MAG is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. If you think you would be suited to one of our roles we would welcome your application regardless of your background. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential. Women are encouraged to apply.

**Benefits:**

- **Renumeration Package**: **£70,824 per annum including basic salary and all allowances and this increases with service.**
- **Accommodation:** MAG will provide accommodation in-country.

- **Leave**: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year
