**About MAG:**

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

**About the Lebanon programme:**

MAG launched its Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities in Lebanon in 2017, in close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the Ministry of Defense, PM/WRA, and the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. The program aims to enhance national security and stability by ensuring the safe storage, management, and disposal of weapons and ammunition, in line with international standards (IATG). Since its inception, MAG has constructed over 20 explosive storehouses (ESH)—creating more than 2,000 m² of safe storage space—and upgraded key sites.

Beyond infrastructure, MAG has trained over 90 LAF personnel and conducted 66 site assessments to identify and mitigate high-risk areas. Looking ahead to 2025–2027, MAG plans to expand its work by building new ammunition depots in South Lebanon, strengthening national training facilities, and supporting the LAF in implementing sustainable, decentralized, and safe stockpile management systems, ultimately safeguarding lives and reinforcing Lebanon’s long-term security and resilience.
