**About the position:**

The Technical Lead – RMNCAH will lead and provide overall technical leadership and strategic oversight for the Integrated Maternal Health, Family Planning, Obstetric Fistula and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Project implemented by Americares Foundation Tanzania. The Technical Lead will guide the design, implementation, and quality assurance of integrated RMNCAH interventions across facility and community platforms. The role will support evidence-based capacity building interventions (i.e., on-the-job training, on-site mentorship, supportive supervision and clinical attachment), quality improvement initiatives, health systems strengthening, and the integration of mental health and psychosocial support within maternal and newborn health services.


The Technical Lead – RMNCAH will also provide strategic technical leadership and work in close partnership with regional and council health management teams, referral hospitals including Bugando Medical Centre, sub-granted civil society organizations, and community structures to ensure the project is fully aligned with national policies and guidelines, strengthens referral systems, and delivers measurable outcomes across integrated maternal health, family planning, obstetric fistula, and MHPSS.


**Duties and Responsibilities:**

1\. Technical Leadership, Program Implementation and Quality Assurance

Provide strategic technical direction for the design, implementation, and scale-up of integrated RMNCAH interventions including maternal and newborn health, family planning, obstetric fistula, and perinatal mental health ensuring alignment with national guidelines, quality-of-care standards, and the latest evidence.

Lead the development of project work plans, implementation strategies, clinical protocols, and program guidelines, while providing oversight for the integration of obstetric fistula services (prevention, identification, referral, surgical care, survivor reintegration) and perinatal mental health within the broader maternal and newborn health continuum.

Oversee health systems strengthening and quality improvement activities, including facility readiness assessments, clinical audits, maternal death root cause analyses, and the implementation of Maternal and Perinatal Death

Surveillance and Response (MPDSR).
Guide capacity-building efforts (i.e., on-the-job training, mentorship, coaching, clinical attachments) through hub-and-spoke models for health care providers across all technical areas.

Provide technical oversight on integrated supportive supervision activities to ensure quality, effectiveness, and sustainability.

Support strengthening referral linkages and emergency obstetric care pathways across facility and community levels, working in collaboration with government systems and partners.

Support integrated fistula outreach campaigns, surgical repair services, post-operative care, and survivor reintegration programs

Promote community engagement strategies to improve demand for quality maternal health services, early identification and referral of obstetric fistula cases.
