Build a career with impact. Working at the World Bank Group (WBG) provides a unique opportunity to help countries solve their greatest development challenges. As one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries, the WBG is a unique partnership of five global institutions dedicated to ending poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development. With 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, the WBG works with public and private sector partners, investing in groundbreaking projects and using data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges.

The World Bank’s Infrastructure VPU, part of the WBG knowledge Bank, provides investment and advisory services for private and public sector clients across energy, mining and metals, transport, waste, and tourism sectors, and further mobilizes private sector capital from institutional investors and other financial institutions. It acts as a strategic partner to the private sector, leveraging its financial resources, deep-seated global expertise, and ability to mitigate risk and mobilize capital to foster infrastructure development that opens markets, drives economic growth, creates jobs and improves living standards in emerging markets in the development of a wide array of infrastructure sectors. The Senior Industry Specialists sit within the Knowledge Bank at the WBG which ensures that the WBG’s knowledge - one of our most valuable offerings to clients - works seamlessly across institutions (IDA/IBRD, IFC, MIGA). We are seeking to hire an experienced gas and LNG professional, to be based in Washington, DC, United States, to provide expert technical and market advice on multiple gas and LNG opportunities including FSRU terminals, gas pipelines and distribution networks, gas processing and gas flare reduction projects.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities in developing countries. In fiscal year 2025, IFC committed a record $71.7 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, leveraging private sector solutions, and mobilizing private capital to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. For more information, visit: https://www.ifc.org All WBG staff are united by core values of Impact, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation.

Together, we help to address complex global challenges while advancing social and economic inclusion. Duties and Accountabilities: • Support IFC’s investment decision making process by providing technical and techno-commercial expertise to undertake the appraisal of gas and LNG investment transactions. Such appraisals can include site visits, hiring and supervision of external consultants such as lender’s engineers, review of major contracts, assessing / proposing key technical inputs for incorporation in financial models, and preparing reports summarizing and assessing technical risk. • Collaborate with WBG internal teams, including investment officers, task team leaders, environmental and social specialists, and legal counsel, to deliver high-quality reviews, appraisals and recommendations for potential WBG projects. • Support portfolio management by monitoring all technical aspects of portfolio gas LNG investments throughout construction and on into operation. This includes review of periodic construction or operations reports, periodic field inspections or other measures as necessary to address or resolve specific problems or issues. • Conduct market analysis and provide thought leadership on emerging trends, technologies, and policies in the gas and LNG industries, contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives within WBG and externally. • Contribute to the development and execution of WBG’s sector strategies, including the integration of gas and LNG solutions into broader energy transition and climate resilience frameworks. • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including private sector clients, government agencies, and development partners, to promote IFC’s role in the global gas and LNG sectors.
