Medical operations coordinator
Full Description
## **Looking for something meaningful, practical, and focused on quality?**
We’re looking for someone who can help turn good medical ideas into consistent, high-quality practice in the field.
At STEP IN, we already have strong medical expertise and experienced field teams. What we now need is someone who can connect the dots between them—someone who pays attention to the details that make healthcare services truly work for patients and communities.
This role is for a person who combines a solid medical background with strong organisational and coordination skills. Someone who notices whether SOPs are actually followed, whether educational materials are understandable and available where needed, whether teams know how to use tools properly, and whether different parts of the programme work together in a coherent way.
You will work closely with the Medical Advisor, MEAL team, and Field Coordinators to strengthen the quality and consistency of our integrated healthcare services, including primary healthcare, mental health and psychosocial support, and physiotherapy.
This is not a purely clinical role and not a purely coordination role. It sits somewhere in between. It requires someone who can zoom in on details without losing sight of the bigger picture.
## **What you’ll be doing**
- Supporting the implementation of medical standards, SOPs, and clinical guidelines across field teams
- Following up whether agreed procedures and quality standards are actually applied in day-to-day practice
- Working closely with field coordinators and medical teams to identify gaps and improve service delivery
- Helping ensure that patient education and communication materials are practical, understandable, available, and properly used
- Supporting onboarding and practical training of field staff on procedures, workflows, and standards
- Coordinating with the MEAL team to monitor quality of services and identify areas for improvement
- Connecting information and feedback coming from medical teams, MEAL staff, and coordination structures
- Supporting integrated approaches across primary healthcare, mental health, physiotherapy, and community-based services
- Conducting field visits to monitor implementation and provide practical support to teams
- Supporting documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement of programme tools and systems
- Helping maintain high professional and ethical standards across all activities
## **What we’re looking for**
- Ideally, a degree in medicine; alternatively, nursing, public health, physiotherapy, or another relevant health-related field.
- Experience working in healthcare programmes, humanitarian settings, or multidisciplinary service delivery
- Strong understanding of healthcare quality standards and practical implementation of procedures
- Ability to balance attention to detail with understanding of broader programme goals
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with different professional groups and helping teams collaborate effectively
- Practical mindset and ability to solve problems in dynamic field environments
- Experience with training, mentoring, or supportive supervision is a strong plus
- Understanding of MEAL processes and quality improvement approaches is an advantage
- Fluent English required; Ukrainian or another Slavic language is a strong advantage
- Driving licence and willingness to travel frequently to field locations
## **Contract start date and duration**
- Start date: as soon as possible, to be agreed with the selected candidate
- Duration: minimum 6 months
## **What we offer**
- A full-time position with compensation based on qualifications and experience, paid against an invoice.
- Accommodation in a guesthouse
- An international and supportive working environment
- A role with significant influence on the quality and development of healthcare services
- A multidisciplinary team combining medical, psychosocial, and rehabilitation
- A warm and collaborative organisational culture
