**Starting salary for this position is £35,904 GBP / approx. $48,100 USD per annum**
**About MAG:**
MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
**About the role:**
Joining our growing Programme Information Management unit, you will develop practical, innovative methodologies and tools to enhance MAG’s operational efficiency, decision making, and situational awareness across our global portfolio of programmes. You will lead research and development processes to advance the use of Earth Observation (EO) data and drone-based solutions in Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and Weapon and Ammunition Management (WAM) operational contexts. You will play a key role in partnership development, particularly focused on enriching our theoretical and empirical practices. You will integrate environmental considerations and uphold MAG’s core values to promote our mission and extend our impact where it matters most.

**About you:**
Proficiency with remote sensing systems and GIS software for data processing, analysis, including machine learning, and visualization is essential. You should have proven experience leading on remote sensing projects, including developing operational use cases and standard operating procedures. You should hold a degree in a relevant field, with strong skills in project management and report writing. You will be a strong communicator, able to translate complex data into actionable insights and build meaningful partnerships to enhance MAG’s practice.
You should be adaptable and proactive, with the willingness and flexibility to travel internationally, including in challenging environments. Formal training or certification in drone operations, and knowledge of international standards and best practices for humanitarian mine action and weapons and ammunition management would be advantageous.
**We’re looking for someone with:**
- Proficiency with remote sensing platforms (satellites, drones) and sensor technologies (optical, radar, LiDAR, multispectral), combined with hands-on experience using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine) for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Familiarity with satellite imagery providers and datasets, including both open-access (e.g., Copernicus/Sentinel, Landsat) and commercial sources (e.g., Maxar, Planet, Airbus).
- Proficiency in machine learning techniques for geospatial data analysis, including image classification, feature extraction, and predictive modeling.
- Desirable experience with drone data workflows, including flight planning, photogrammetry, and orthomosaic/3D model generation, alongside knowledge of safe operational procedures and relevant regulations.

- **Salary**: **£35,904 per annum and this increases with service.**
- **Pension:** MAG has a salary sacrifice group personal pension plan in place, and matches employee’s contributions up to 5%. This is only available to individuals based in the UK.
- **Leave**: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. Annual Leave starts at five weeks each year and increases with service to six weeks. We also offer paid sick leave, and the amount of the entitlement increases with service. Once you’ve been with MAG for two years, you’re entitled to 13 weeks.
