**Description**

The **Pacific Community** (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. We are an international development organisation owned and governed by our 27 country and territory members. In pursuit of sustainable development to benefit Pacific people, our unique organisation works across more than 25 sectors. We are known for our knowledge and innovation in such areas as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.

The **Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems (FAME)** division is composed of three programmes: the Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (CFAP); the Oceanic Fisheries Programme (OFP); and the Marine Ecosystems Programme (MEP). The Director’s Office provides implementation support and strategic direction across the three programmes and cross-cutting projects. Working with all 22 PICTs, SPC FAME has strong partnerships with regional, sub-regional and national entities working in the marine sector. SPC FAME staff are based in New Caledonia, Fiji, Federated States of Micronesia, Solomon Islands, and Tonga, with most of the staff being based in New Caledonia.

**The role –** the **Digital Communications Adviser** will deliver FAME’s digital communications strategy, driving high-impact online content, visibility and engagement to translate scientific work into accessible, evidence-based narratives for Pacific stakeholders and global audiences.

The key responsibilities of the role include the following:

**Digital Communications Planning**

- Develop and implement the divisional digital communications strategy aligned with FAME priorities and SPC corporate frameworks.
- Translate complex fisheries science and technical outputs into compelling digital narratives for regional and global audiences.

- Provide advice to FAME leadership on digital positioning, visibility, and online engagement opportunities.

- Ensure One SPC alignment of digital storytelling across FAME programmes (CFAP, OFP, MEEP).

- Drive integrated digital campaigns that support programme objectives, donor visibility, and stakeholder engagement.

- Identify and leverage emerging digital tools and platforms (AI, interactive tools, data storytelling) to enhance impact.

**Digital Content and Channel Optimisation**

- Oversee and manage the optimisation and governance of digital channels (web, intranet, social media, email platforms, multimedia platforms).
- Design audience-centric digital journeys using segmentation, targeting and behavioural insights.

- Drive the use of data-driven content approaches (analytics, SEO, platform insights, data storytelling).

- Ensure digital platforms are current, accessible, and aligned with SPC branding and systems.

- Collaborate closely with ICT and corporate communications to strengthen platform integration and performance where necessary.

- Oversee the production of high-quality multimedia content (video, digital storytelling, social content, campaigns).

- Ensure consistency with SPC branding, messaging and digital best practice.

- Manage a pipeline of digital content aligned with programme priorities and key moments (events, releases, campaigns).

- Strengthen digital knowledge management systems, including content repositories and reuse of assets.

- Coordinate external providers and internal contributors to ensure timely and high-quality outputs.

**Performance Measurement, Continuous Improvement and One SPC alignment**

- Develop KPIs and frameworks to track the effectiveness of digital initiatives.
- Produce regular analytics reports, insights, and recommendations to inform strategy.

- Utilize tools like social listening platforms, and CRM systems to measure performance and optimize future actions.

- Design and implement digital performance frameworks, KPIs and reporting mechanisms.

- Use analytics and user insights to inform decision making and drive continuous improvement of digital activities.

- Integrate monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) approaches into digital communications.

- Collaborate with corporate communications, editorial processes and divisional focal points to ensure alignment.

- Ensure compliance with SPC standards, digital systems, branding and governance processes.

- Contribute to corporate digital initiatives (e.g., website, campaigns, community of practice).

**Team Management and Capacity Development**

- Manage and supervise staff, including performance, work plan and professional development.
- Allocate tasks effectively and ensuring timely delivery of outputs.

- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and coaching in digital communications skills and tools.

- Build a high-performing, collaborative and service-oriented team culture.

- Identify opportunities for capacity development within the FAME division on digital communication practices.
