**Job Location:** Damascus, Syria
**Contact Duration :** (6) months, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
The Day After organization announces its need to contract a Communications and Advocacy Officer in Damascus, Syria. **The deadline for submitting applications is June 22nd 2026.**

The Day After (TDA) is a Syrian non-profit organization dedicated to countering authoritarianism and supporting democratic transition in Syria. It adopts the values of human rights in accordance with international conventions and covenants.

**OUR GOALS**
TDA identifies the following as goals that should guide the efforts of political transition:
\- Supporting civil initiatives locally inside Syria and supplying them with knowledge in the areas of justice, human rights, and the political transition from an authoritarian regime to a democratic one.
\- Supporting justice and accountability efforts by supporting victims of human rights violations in Syria, especially victims of arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearance and displacement, and monitoring patterns of violations and raising awareness of relevant actors and stakeholders.
\- Supporting the efforts of the political transition from its position in the Syrian civil society in line with its values and objectives.
\- Coordinating the efforts of Syrian civil society in the areas of transitional justice and engaging in the formulation of a political transition.

**Job Purpose:**
The Communications and Advocacy Officer will enhance TDA's media presence and stakeholder engagement by creating, coordinating, and disseminating compelling content across multiple communication channels, and by leading advocacy activities targeting key stakeholders.
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
**Communications and Media Engagement**
- Develop and implement TDA's six-month communications and advocacy plan.
- Generate, edit, schedule, and publish content across TDA's website and social media platforms.
- Identify key findings from TDA's research, reports, and activities into accessible communication products, including social media content, briefs, brochures, newsletters, and infographics.
- Lead the production and dissemination of periodic electronic newsletters and web content.
- Monitor media coverage related to Syria's transition and TDA's work and provide regular updates to management.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and international media representatives to increase TDA's visibility and outreach.
- Serve as the focal point for communication with media agencies and production companies, ensuring effective coordination, timely follow-up, and delivery of all agreed communication and advocacy materials and outputs.
**Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement**
- Design and implement advocacy initiatives aligned with TDA's strategic objectives.
- Organize and coordinate webinars, conferences, workshops, and stakeholder meetings.
- Support engagement with policymakers, donors, civil society actors, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop advocacy materials and key messages to support TDA's campaigns and outreach efforts.
**Required Qualifications and Experience:**
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media Studies, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in communications, advocacy, media relations, or a related role, preferably within the NGO or civil society sector.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and digital communications.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality written and visual communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of the Syrian context, political developments, and conflict dynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with graphic design, content management systems, and analytics tools is an asset.
