UNICEF Malawi’s Country Programme aims to ensure that all children and adolescents can survive, grow, learn, and be protected, with a strong focus on those who are most vulnerable and at risk of being left behind. The programme works to create an inclusive and resilient environment where every child has equal opportunities. The Country Programme focuses on Child Survival and Development (Health, Nutrition and WASH), Learning, Skills and Protection, Social Policy (Social Protection and Public Finance for Children), Gender Equality, Inclusion and Innovation within a robust evidence-informed environment, and supported by programme and operational effectiveness and efficiency UNICEF works across both humanitarian and development contexts to strengthen preparedness for emergencies, support climate adaptation and response, and build the resilience of institutions, communities, and young people. UNICEF is seeking a highly motivated Social Policy Specialist to support the effective delivery of its Country Programme, contributing to improved outcomes for children in a complex, risk‑prone environment.
Reporting to the Chief of the Social Policy Section, the Social Policy Specialist plays a critical role in leading activities related to the coordination, capacity-building, implementation and monitoring of the social protection sector, and more specifically, the flagship National Social Cash Transfer Programme (SCTP).
