In response to the Venezuelan migratory flow and later Yanomami health crisis, UNICEF has been present in Roraima leveraging its expertise and resources to mobilize partners and support government in implementing actions to respond to needs of children. adolescents and their families.
The national protocol for the protection of children and adolescents in situations of risk and disaster, a federal government policy guidance developed with the technical support of UNICEF, aims to strengthen capacities so that the states and municipalities can act in the prevention, surveillance, response, and recovery from disasters.
It is implemented at local level through the development of contingency plans that identify risks and vulnerabilities, as well as assign responsibilities for specific activities, including the mapping of capacities, resources and gaps for adequate emergency management.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Emergency preparedness must prioritize the needs of children. In line with the Selo UNICEF systemic result on disaster risk reduction and national frameworks for emergency contingency planning, UNICEF aims to foster the capacity of subnational governments to ensure no child is left behind when crisis strikes.
