The Energy Investments, Solutions Impact (KIESI) team is part of the WBG Knowledge Bank. Our unit seeks to accelerate private sector investment in energy infrastructure, including leveraging the Knowledge Bank resources to promote initiatives and innovative financing products. The team supports regional industry teams in structuring and executing investments with private sector clients in the energy sector, provides sector knowledge and expertise to shape replicable and scalable solutions that mobilize private capital, and manages relations with key global clients. Its scope includes various energy subsectors including power generation (renewable, conventional and nuclear), transmission and distribution, and innovative clean energy technologies such as battery storage and green hydrogen. The Energy Investments, Solutions Impact team (KIESI), is recruiting an Associate Industry Specialist to work with Principal and Senior Industry Specialists in providing technical advice and expertise to regional investment teams. The primary focus of the position will be on renewable energy projects in the Africa and Europe regions. The position will report to the Knowledge Bank Infrastructure Energy Solutions Impact (KIESI) Manager in Washington D.C.

Note: This vacancy announcement is posted across multiple possible duty stations, that includes Washington, D.C., and Vienna. The selected candidate's duty station will be determined based on organizational requirements and business needs. This position is posted as local recruitment in accordance with the World Bank Group Staff Rules. However, should the successful candidate be selected to be based in Washington, D.C., the appointment will be treated as international recruitment and the applicable Staff Rules and benefits package for internationally recruited staff will apply accordingly. Duties and Accountabilities: • Support technical due diligence for power projects, including solar PV, wind, and other generation technologies, to inform investment decisions and ensure compliance with IFC standards. • Provide analysis on the design, construction, and operational performance of energy projects, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging market conditions. • Review and validate cost estimates, operating parameters, and other technical inputs / assumptions in financial models to inform investment decisions. • Support the development and implementation of energy projects in emerging markets, ensuring technical soundness. • Monitor and analyze global trends in renewable energy technologies, costs, and market developments to provide actionable insights for IFC’s investment and advisory activities. • Contribute to capacity-building initiatives by sharing technical expertise and best practices with colleagues and stakeholders to enhance IFC’s impact in the energy sector.
