Candidates should be committed to improving the efficiency of the federal government, passionate about the ideals of our American republic, and committed to upholding the rule of law and the United States Constitution. Typically, experience of this nature will have been gained at or above the GS -14 /15 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent in the private sector. To meet the minimum qualification requirements, you must show that you possess the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQ) and Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) related to this position within your resume - NOT TO EXCEED 2 PAGES. Resumes over the 2-page limit will not be reviewed beyond page 2 or may be disqualified. Your resume should include examples of experience, education, and accomplishments applicable to the qualification(s).
REQUIRED SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: In order to be considered for this position you must: A. Possess experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or agent with full arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention and/or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of federal, state, local, tribal, or military criminal laws; -OR- B. Have held a federal civilian position in the 1801 occupational series. If you are currently serving under a Career Senior Executive Service (SES) appointment, eligible for reinstatement into the SES, or a graduate of an OPM approved SES Candidate Development Program (CDP): You must address the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) within your two-page resume. A separate narrative statement specifically addressing the MTQs will not be considered. They must be included within your two-page resume. If you are not currently serving under a Career SES appointment (new entrants): You must address the Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and the Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) within your two-page resume. A separate narrative statement specifically addressing the ECQs and MTQs will not be considered. They must be included with your two-page resume. EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): As a basic requirement for entry into the SES, applicants must provide evidence of progressively responsible executive leadership and supervisory experience that is indicative of senior executive level management capability and directly related to the skills and abilities outlined under Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and Mandatory Technical Qualifications (MTQs) listed in the "Required Documents" section below. Your resume must address each ECQ separately and demonstrate the underlying competencies. Examples should be clear, concise, and emphasize your level of responsibilities; the scope and complexity of the programs, activities, or services you managed; program accomplishments; policy initiatives undertaken; level of contacts; the sensitivity and criticality of the issues you addressed; and the results of your actions. You should use action-oriented leadership words to describe your experience and accomplishments and quantify your experience wherever possible to demonstrate your accomplishments (e.g., number of employees supervised; size of budget managed; amount of money saved, etc.). EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): All new entrants into the SES under a career appointment will be assessed for executive competency against the following five mandatory ECQs. If your 2-page resume does not reflect demonstrated evidence of the ECQs and MTQs, you may not receive further consideration for the position. There are five ECQs: ECQ 1: Commitment to the Rule of Law and the Principles of the American Founding - This core qualification requires a demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, and commitment to serve the American people.
