To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Evaluating complex hull systems, machinery, special use equipment and their automated command and control processes in areas that require extensive interpretation of regulations. Interpreting existing laws, regulations, and standards, as they relate to equipment or systems on marine vessels, to determine compliance criteria. Leading and facilitating discussions with team members on specific courses of actions to correct deficiencies found during vessel inspections and examinations. Preparing and delivering briefings, and providing recommendations to supervisors, sector. commanders and district level command staffs pertaining to ongoing inspections and examinations. Developing and implementing new processes and procedures, for marine inspection, with a goal of improving efficiency. Providing approval of funds for requests for equipment and other resources required for personnel to perform marine inspections and vessel examinations.
