GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
SRI LANKA
MINISTRY OF DEFENCE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
STRATEGIC CITIES DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL)
has applied for financing
in the amount of US$
150.00 Million
equivalent from the World Bank towardthe cost of the Strategic Cities Development Project in Kandy and Galle, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured underthis project.
The project will include the following components:
Component 1 Kandy City-region Urban Interventions
Component 2 Galle City-region Urban Interventions
Component 3 Implementation Support
Following types of activities will be carried out under above components:
(a)
Augmentation and Rehabilitation of Municipal Water Supply System
(b)
Restoration of Drinking Water Reservoirs
(c)
Underground Storm Water Drain System Rehabilitation:
(d)
Roads Rehabilitation and Improvement
(e)
Canal and drainage improvement
(f)
Walkability improvement and publicspaces enhancement
(g)
Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings
It is expected to procure (1) construction contractors for roads, water supply, drainage projects, (2) consulting services for design, planning, survey, and supervision of major projects, and (3) good and machineries under this project.
Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank's
Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits
(current edition), and is open to all eligible bidders
as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank's
Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers
(current edition).
Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in

and in local newspapers.
