Debido a que la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Servidas de la localidad de Cerro Sombrero no se encuentra operativa, el escurrimiento de la red actúa principalmente por gravedad, lo que dificulta el normal flujo hasta la disposición final. Esta condición obliga a la I. Municipalidad a realizar limpiezas periódicas de carácter preventivo en las redes y cámaras existentes, y, en casos excepcionales, ejecutar intervenciones de urgencia debido a la obstrucción de ductos, con el fin de resguardar la salubridad pública.
