Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), which shared in the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997, is a U.S.-based international advocacy organization working at the intersection of medicine, science, and law. With a global network of thousands of medical, scientific, and legal experts, PHR uses the power of medical and scientific evidence to document violations of human rights and humanitarian law, prevent abuses, protect survivors, and promote justice and universal human rights for all.
Building upon its highly respected place in the field, and supported by a committed and talented team, PHR seeks an Operations Manager.

**Organizational Overview**
Physicians for Human Rights was founded in 1986 by five physicians who were united in the belief that health professionals, with their specialized skills, ethical duties, and credible voices, are uniquely positioned to prevent harm and promote respect for human rights. Since its founding, PHR has built a long and distinguished record of accomplishment by conducting groundbreaking investigations and advocacy, in concert with strategic partners.
PHR’s approach includes extensive documentation of the use of illegal and inhumane weapons in armed conflicts, attacks on civilians, and the physical and psychological impacts of torture and sexual violence as a weapon of war. Other core activities include protecting the rights of those seeking asylum in the United States, the human rights implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and halting attacks on medical facilities and frontline health professionals.
**Role Description**
The Operations Manager will provide support across governance, development operations, compliance, and cross-functional coordination during a high-activity period for the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring continuity of core operational functions, managing development operations, and coordinating with internal teams and external partners as needed.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative nonprofit environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee development operations activities, including CRM strategy development, coordination with external vendors and internal stakeholders, and donor research
- Project manage ongoing organizational initiatives including but not limited to internal policy management, security monitoring, and off-site human rights archives
- Support coordination of the Board of Directors and Advisory Council meetings and related follow-up
- Support compliance and records management activities, including state registration and grant-related processes
- Manage routine administrative and business operations, including business systems, mail processing, donation check logging and processing, office management including organizing the central filing system, ordering supplies, and office phone management
- Coordinate scheduling, communications, and documentation across teams and executive office as needed
- Support additional ad hoc operational projects and initiatives
- Supervising interns and direct report(s) including the Advocacy and Operations Coordinator
- Additional tasks as assigned.
**Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate**
- 6+ years' experience in nonprofit operations, governance support, or project management
- Experience with Salesforce
- Comfortable using AI and identifying workflow efficiencies
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working collaboratively across departments and with external partners
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable
- 10% percentage international travel or as needed
- Additional language proficiencies are welcome
**Salary and Benefits**
This is a full-time position located in New York, New York, with a hybrid work model. Salary range is $70,000- $90,000 and is commensurate with experience.
