For the GS-13: In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following, as applicable: Performs structural analyses and load calculations to ensure sound design and compliance with regulatory requirements. Reviews the work of Engineering Service contractors providing support service for assigned tasking. Makes on site observations and identifies potential course of action to port engineers. Performs stability calculations and conducts experiments to include intact stability, damage stability, dry-docking, inclining experiments and deadweight surveys. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following, as applicable: Develops detailed specifications for modifying existing or installing new equipment including modifications to structural members or arrangements. Prepares weight estimates and cost estimates. Provides technical reviews of work items, drawings, or other technical matter submitted by contractors, or shipyards in the areas of naval architecture. Performs technical review of proposals, studies, plans or other technical matter submitted by various agencies, contractors, or shipyards in the areas of naval architecture.
