we are looking for a
**International Peace Worker (f/m/d) in Thailand/ Chiang Mai (38,5 hours/week)**
The **Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow** was founded in 1980 with the aim of turning concerns about violent conflict, environmental degradation and social injustice into conscious nonviolent action.
KURVE Wustrow conducts trainings, workshops and events in the field of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation in Germany and abroad. We send International Peace Workers as part of the “Civil Peace Service” (CPS) to selected conflict regions. For this purpose, KURVE Wustrow is closely cooperating with partner organisations in the Balkans, Ukraine, Sudan, West -, South - and Southeast Asia. Further focal points of our work include our commitment to climate and resource protection and against nuclear energy.
These are your tasks:
- As an integrated peace worker, you will support a Human Rights Organisation in the strategic anchoring of measures in nonviolent action and contribute to their documentation and advocacy work. Together with the local team from the partner organisation, you will plan and implement the CPS project.
- You support the design and implementation of approaches and training programmes on nonviolent action for local actors (e.g. supporting capacity building on nonviolent action, curriculum development and adaptation of training modules).
- You integrate yourself into the team of the partner organisation and, if desired, participate in processes in the area of programme or organisational development (e.g. supporting strategy processes, constant adaptation of the project to changes in the context).
- In close cooperation with the partner organisation, you will be responsible for supporting documentation processes (e.g. on human rights violations).
- You will ensure the proper use of funds and reporting as well as regular communication with the CPS country coordination and the KURVE Wustrow main office.
Skills you have:
- A relevant university degree (e.g. peace and conflict studies, social sciences or education) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS.
- Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad
- Relevant further training and experience in the field of civil, non-violent action and conflict transformation and sound knowledge in this area.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context
- The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability.
- Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
- Knowledge of and prior working experience in human rights, documentation and advocacy.
- Knowledge of the current context in Myanmar
- Knowledge of and experience with relevant (regional) networks is an asset.
- Very good English language skills and willingness to learn Burmese; prior Burmese language skills are an asset.
What we offer you:
- A 2,5 months preparation period will take place in Germany, starting on **01. October 2026** (prior visa application process will be supported)
- A full-time contract in alignment with the German law for development aid workers for citizens from other countries or in accordance with the German law for development aid workers (for EU-citizens) until **31. December 2029.**
