**Rank:** Field Staffs **Grade:** G3 **Section:** Member/Client Services **Department:** Essential Services - Gender **Location / Work station:** Kibera/Mathare **Working Hours:** Monday – Friday | 8.00 AM – 5.00PM, 2 Saturdays a month **Reports to:** Gender and Inclusion Program Officer **Direct reports:** Community champions/Community Health promoters/Community children volunteers ## **Job Purpose:** To be responsible for managing the GBV case management component and child protection work, including the database registrations and case follow-ups. ## **Key Responsibilities and Job Dimensions** ### **Responsibilities** - Perform an assessment to gain background information and obtain psychosocial information to every new case reported. - Perform administrative tasks such as compiling and maintaining case file. - Carryout regular monitoring with follow-ups and review progress of cases in a timely manner. - Support in provision of basic counselling and general case management services. - Coordinate the care services given to the client – medical examination, reporting to the police or linking to legal authorities to ensure arrest is made to the perpetrator. - Identify children at risk and refer them to appropriate services and support. - Conduct sessions and trainings in school - rights of children clubs (ROC) - life planning skills, SRH, Gender issues etc. - Refer/link the client with medical, legal and social services to ensure full recovery and justice for the client. - Take necessary steps to ensure that the client receives adequate care and protection. - Organize awareness campaigns in the community by conducting door to door sensitizations, schools’ awareness campaigns and community outreach forums on sexual and Gender violence. - Build and maintain partnerships and collaboration with other GBV partners and relevant stakeholders. - Identify cases of concern (girls, boys and women) in the community liaising directly with other service providers present in the area (health and /or legal providers, etc.) and host community most vulnerable women, families and children. - Assist in the developing of services mapping and functional referral pathways. - Apply principles appropriately to age and gender needs with specialized counselling support for GBV survivors (young children, adolescents and women) respecting the principles of confidentiality and do no harm. - Conduct interviews, needs assessment and develops in collaboration with the Program Officer individual case management action plans and indicates cases for legal prosecution, ensures implementation, referrals, follow-up and case closures (if and when appropriate) in a timely manner. - Ensure regular monitoring with follow-up and reviews progress of cases. - In charge of SUN Gender desk in specific sites - Training SUN gender champions on Gender, GBV and SGBV issues. - Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Gender Studies or related field of studies. - Additional training in child protection work. - Trainer by proffession in life planning skills, gender issues, SRH and young mentor will be added advantage. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Interviewing and Note taking skills - Respect confidentiality standards and the dignity of beneficiaries, demonstrating and safeguarding ethics and integrity. - Familiarity with human rights and gender related protection issues especially focused on violence, exploitation and abuse of girls, boys and women. - Excellent organizational skills, independent, disciplined, with initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to prioritize work - About 4 years’ experience in case management/child protection. ## **Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).** ### **Academic Qualifications** - Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Gender Studies or related field of studies. ### **Professional Qualifications** - Additional training in child protection work. - Trainer by proffession in life planning skills, gender issues, SRH and young mentor will be added advantage. ### **Other required qualifications (unique/job specific)** - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Interviewing and Note taking skills - Respect confidentiality standards and the dignity of beneficiaries, demonstrating and safeguarding ethics and integrity. - Familiarity with human rights and gender related protection issues especially focused on violence, exploitation and abuse of girls, boys and women. - Excellent organizational skills, independent, disciplined, with initiative and an ability to work under pressure and to prioritize work - About 4 years’ experience in case management/child protection. ### **Functional Skills:** - Adopting practical approaches - Making decisions - Checking things - Taking action ### **Behavioral Competencies/Attributes:** - Establishing rapport - Following procedure - Upholding standards - Understanding people
