For more information on ITS, see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9 v=VTFGffa1Y7w Unit Context: The Infrastructure Engineering team is instrumental in advancing the World Bank Group’s mission by designing, building, and maintaining the foundational IT infrastructure that supports global operations. The team manages critical infrastructure components end-to-end, including data centers, infrastructure as code, enterprise networks, storage systems, compute resources, virtualization platforms, and disaster recovery solutions. Their efforts ensure that infrastructure services are robust, secure, scalable, and cost-effective, forming the backbone for reliable digital services across all business units. Committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement, Infrastructure Engineering proactively monitors and optimizes infrastructure performance to meet evolving business needs. The team leads modernization initiatives, adopts emerging technologies, and implements best practices in infrastructure management. Collaboration with other technology teams—including cloud engineering, cybersecurity, application development, and IT service management—ensures seamless integration of cloud, automation, and security strategies. Supporting the World Bank Group’s digital transformation agenda, Infrastructure Engineering champions innovative solutions and automation to enhance the productivity and efficiency of IT operations. The team also plays a vital role in ensuring business continuity and resilience through comprehensive disaster recovery planning and execution. Duties and accountabilities: The consultant will work as an embedded member of the Linux Infrastructure team and will be expected to contribute across the following areas: A. Infrastructure Engineering Operations • Design and maintain RHEL-based infrastructure across data centers and cloud (Azure/AWS). • Build and manage gold/immutable images using tools like Image Builder (osbuild-composer). • Perform OS lifecycle management including provisioning, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning. • Ensure system performance, availability, and reliability. B. Automation DevOps Integration • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) for image creation and deployment. • Automate OS configuration using TOML blueprints, shell scripting, Ansible, or Chef. • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for repeatable deployments. • Integrate infrastructure workflows with ServiceNow, Rundeck, or similar tools. C. Security Compliance • Remediate vulnerabilities identified by Nessus/OpenSCAP/InSpec. • Implement and enforce CIS hardening standards within gold images. • Handle CVE mitigation, package patching, and version control. • Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and audit frameworks. D. System Administration Support • Manage Linux services, systemd, storage, networking, and user access. Troubleshoot issues related to: • OS performance • Authentication (SSSD, Kerberos, IDM/IPA) • Package dependencies (dnf/rpm) Support enterprise tools like: • Splunk Universal Forwarder • Falcon Sensor • Nessus Agents E. Access Control Governance • Implement least privilege access using ACLs, sudo policies, and IDM groups. Validate and audit access using: • getfacl, id, sudo -l, g
