The Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities. Interns must be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience.
In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who:
a) have a specific interest in, or whose studies have covered, areas relevant to IOM programmes and activities.
b) are holding a scholarship for internship placements in international organizations and/or for whom internship is required to complete their studies.
c) are sponsored by governmental/non-governmental institutions and/or academia to work in specific areas relevant to both IOM and the sponsor.
d) are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.
e) are between 20 and 36 years of age.
**Background Information**
Addressing the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment is a priority within IOM and a strong contributor to United Nations (UN) and Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) efforts at both the global and country levels.
IOM’s PSEAH strategy focuses on five key pillars: 1) Leadership and Organizational Culture; 2) Institutional Accountability and Transparency; 3) Capacity-Development, Training, and Communication; 4) Quality and Accessible Victim Assistance; 5) Partnership and Coordination.
**Supervision**
Under the overall supervision of the Global Shelter, Land, and Site Coordination (SLSC) Coordinator and the direct supervision of the SLSC IM Officer, the Intern will provide IM support to the SLSC Cluster by assisting with the development of data collection tools/processes, data management, analysis, and information products essential for coordinated responses in
countries where the cluster is present.
**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**
1. Support the roll‑out and maintenance of digital platforms for data collection, site monitoring, and
reporting, including solutions built with Microsoft Power Apps, SharePoint, and dashboarding in Power BI where relevant.
2. Support the adaptation of software tools and scripts using a mix of conventional programming
techniques and Microsoft services such as Power Automate for workflow automation or integration
between data systems—based on Cluster operational needs.
3. Support the implementation of machine learning or AI methods to enhance data analysis—leveraging appropriate technologies such as Azure AI, AI Builder, or other tools that support forecasting, automated extraction, and pattern detection.
4. Compile, aggregate, and validate data from multiple sources (including SharePoint lists,
Excel/OneDrive files, partner submissions, and external databases) to produce standardized
information products such as maps, dashboards, reports, and factsheets.
5. Provide technical support and capacity building to Cluster partners on information management tools, GIS platforms, and where applicable, the use of Microsoft 365 solutions (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Teams-integrated tools).
6. Ensure the application of organizational data standards and protection protocols, overseeing the
quality, security, and compatibility of operational datasets.
7. Support the disaggregation of data (gender, age, vulnerability, etc.) and ensure information outputs are designed using accessible formats, including the appropriate configuration of digital forms and
dashboards built on Microsoft technologies.
8. Participate in Cluster initiatives, including trainings, working groups, and technical fora, contributing expertise on information management and on digital tools based on Microsoft 365 when relevant.
9. Contribute to the development of situational modelling or analytical tools, using a combination of
established data analysis methods and Microsoft-based analytical environments such as Power BI or Azure services when appropriate.
10. Assist in the preparation of brief summary reports documenting lessons learned, system performance, and recommendations using collaborative tools such as SharePoint or Team
