Full Description

The USENIX Security Symposium and the USENIX Symposium on Vehicle Security and Privacy (VehicleSec) are premier events in computer security, privacy, and usability research, essential for advancing progress in science and engineering. These conferences annually bring together leading researchers and practitioners to share the latest advances in computer systems and network security. The security and privacy of computer systems, networks, mobile devices, and increasingly, connected vehicles and cyber-physical systems, are crucial for national security and public trust in technology. These symposia provide a vital platform for disseminating leading-edge research on topics like systems security, network security, software security, hardware security, and the security of artificial intelligence and autonomous vehicles. By sharing this scientific information, the project directly contributes to the progress of science, the security of the nation's digital infrastructure, and the advancement of reliable, privacy-preserving technologies.

This grant provides essential student travel support to enable U.S.-based graduate students to attend USENIX Security'26 and VehicleSec'26. Participation in these top-tier conferences is a critical part of a student's graduate experience, offering opportunities to interact with senior researchers, present their original work, and be exposed to practical industry applications. This student travel grant program expands opportunities for students, fosters the next generation of security researchers, and supports cybersecurity workforce development.
