**ROLE PURPOSE:**
The ECHO project aims to strengthen people centred disaster risk management systems in the Lower Mekong sub region and Thailand, and to advocate for scaling up within ASEAN. The Action focuses on improving early warning systems, preparedness, and anticipatory action so that vulnerable communities—particularly children, schools, and persons with disabilities—can act earlier and more safely before hazards strike. The project strengthens national and local disaster risk management (DRM) systems, supports inclusive school community preparedness, and enhances regional coordination and learning through ASEAN and Mekong platforms.
The Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of the ECHO funded disaster risk reduction (DRR) and anticipatory action project in Southern Thailand, contributing to a multi country consortium led by Save the Children (SC) across the Lower Mekong region and Thailand. The role is responsible for ensuring high quality, timely, and compliant delivery of project outcomes related to early warning, preparedness, and inclusive anticipatory action, with a strong focus on children, gender, schools, and persons with disabilities.
The position requires strong technical expertise in DRR and emergency preparedness, deep understanding of the context and conflict affected dynamics in Thailand’s Deep South, and proven experience working with government, civil society, humanitarian, and regional stakeholders. The role also carries responsibility for high level coordination and advocacy with national and regional actors, including Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), ASEAN mechanisms, and Save the Children regional teams.

**Role Dimensions**:
Based in Pattani, the Project Coordinator leads the delivery of an ECHO‑funded DRR and anticipatory action project in Southern Thailand, managing partners, budgets, and field teams. The role coordinates with provincial, national, and regional stakeholders, including DDPM, ASEAN mechanisms, UN agencies, and Save the Children regional teams, and represents Save the Children Thailand at area level in a complex, conflict‑affected context.
**External Representation:** The Project Coordinator serves as Save the Children Thailand’s operational focal point in the field, engaging routinely with government counterparts and local stakeholders to support coordination, problem‑solving, and day‑to‑day representation, while ensuring Save the Children maintains an active presence and effective working relationships in the area.
**KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:**
**Project Management and Reporting**
- Lead overall management, coordination, and implementation of the ECHO project in Southern Thailand, ensuring alignment with approved proposals, donor requirements, and Save the Children quality standards.
- Oversee project administration, staffing, procurement, logistics, and compliance, ensuring timely delivery of activities and outputs.
- Hold primary responsibility for project budget management, including monitoring expenditure against plans, ensuring cost accuracy, and compliance with donor and SC financial policies.
- Develop, update, and use project management tools (Programme Reporting, Information Management and Evidence (PRIME), workplans, risk registers, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) trackers) to ensure effective delivery and risk management.
- Work closely with thematic advisors (including Climate Change and Green Jobs Technical Advisor, and Child Protection Technical Advisor) to ensure quality implementation, child safeguarding, and child‑safe programming standards.
- Ensure project progress is regularly monitored through systematic data collection, analysis of indicators, and documentation of results.
- Ensure donor and internal reporting requirements are met, including high‑quality narrative and financial reports, in coordination with thematic advisors and support teams.
- Ensure donor compliance, including documentation, visibility, and audit readiness.
- Systematically document lessons learned, challenges, and success stories, and promote their use for learning, adaptation, and advocacy at national and regional levels.
- Line‑manage and mentor Project Officer, supporting capacity building, career development, and professional growth.
