To qualify for a General Supply Specialist, your qualifications must include: A.

Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include: - Plans, develops schedules for and conducts inventories. - Conducts investigations and analysis to determine causes of inventory discrepancies. - Provides recommendations which correct or prevent errors. B.

Education: To qualify at the GS-09 level based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspx. If using education to meet basic qualifications, YOU MUST SUBMIT A TRANSCRIPT as supplemental documentation. C.

Combination: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-09. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work is usually sedentary and accomplished while seated at desk or table; however, as requested, the incumbent may physically walk through the depot warehouses to conduct physical searches. Occasional situations may require climbing ladders, stooping, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds. If moving or lifting over 25 pounds, will request assistance and/or utilize lifting devices.

Work Environment: Work is usually performed in an office setting, however, extensive research could require visits to warehouse, secured areas, or outdoor locations. Work may be performed in hazardous areas where chemicals, poisons and low radioactive material (such as luminous dials and gauges} are stored; also in refrigerated areas with 42-45 degree temperatures and small freezers where normal temperature is 4 degrees below 0.

SAFETY AND HEAL TH REQUIREMENTS: Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and the work areas where assigned, as directed by the supervisor. This position is being filled as Term appointment not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 Years. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Promotion, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 3 Years and may be extended up to a total of five years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. Current permanent DLA employees eligible as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade, this position will be filled as a Reassignment/Change-to-Lower Grade with the intent to be limited to the time period specified in the announcement and may be reassigned at management's discretion or made permanent at any time. Upon termination/expiration of the temporary assignment, placement will be either to the gaining or previous organization in accordance with DLA policy (DLAI 1442.04) regarding placement rights after a time-limited assignment. For all others, if selected, this would be a Term/Time-Limited Appointment NTE 3 Years, and not more than six years. The selected applicant will be required to sign a written agreement acknowledging the conditions of this temporary assignment/appointment and that they may be released from this position upon management discretion.
