Full Description
This award supports the 8th Biennial Structural Geology and Tectonics Forum at Carleton College. The conference will help researchers better understand processes that cause natural hazards like earthquakes. The volunteer led meeting will also include time for mentoring, networking, and community building.
The 8th Biennial Structural Geology and Tectonics Forum will be held at Carleton College in August, 2026. The meeting brings together students, educators, and researchers for a three-day conference bookended by pre- and post-meeting field trips, workshops, and short courses. The goals of this meeting are to (1) share new advances and insights—both in terms of research and teaching—in structural geology and tectonics; (2) have opportunities to discuss the future of the field as new tools and new problems emerge; (3) facilitate training and professional development; and (4) foster networking to develop and support a vibrant scientific community.
This award reflects NSF's statutory mission and has been deemed worthy of support through evaluation using the Foundation's intellectual merit and broader impacts review criteria.
