Conference: 2026 Quality and Productivity Research Conference

The purpose of this project is to fund graduate student conference attendance at the American Statistical Association’s Section on Quality and Productivity Research Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico from June 22–25, 2026. The theme of the conference is “Advancing Industrial Statistics for Complex Systems.” The goal of the conference is to highlight the important contributions of the statistical community to the advancement of manufacturing technology and quality. The conference includes statistical topics, case studies from industry, and non-statistical topics such as writing, communication, and management that have an important influence on the effectiveness of statistical applications. The students funded by this project will broaden their statistical training by attending a short course, presenting their own research, and attending research talks by world experts in the field of industrial statistics.

This conference will be the 42nd research conference sponsored by the American Statistical Association Section on Quality and Productivity. The conference presentations will cover topics including uncertainty quantification and model calibration; computer experiments, including active learning; machine learning and artificial intelligence; surrogate models and emulators; and advanced topics in modern quality control. The conference honoree will give a plenary talk covering important contributions to uncertainty quantification and statistical estimation in streaming and reliability. The short course, covering modern design of experiments, will be taught by one of the world’s leading experts in modern experimentation.
