**What we are looking for**
NRC Syria is in search of a **Communications and Media** **Adviser** who will be tasked with the development, coordination and effective delivery of communications, and media initiatives in line with the country advocacy priorities, communications plan, and country strategy. We are looking for an excellent storyteller, with an exceptional attention to detail who is confident raising the voices of those NRC serves.The role holder will work under tight deadlines, manage multiple deadlines, and be responsible for providing big-picture strategic vision, editorial leadership, and hands-on direction to transform both existing and new assets into high-quality communications. Additionally, they will be responsible for the development of compelling written content, including but not limited to storytelling, blogs, and design of communications products, ensuring the effective development and delivery of compelling resources for diverse and targeted stakeholders

**What you will do**
**The role will have some of the following responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement monthly communications and media action plans together with the Media and Communications Coordinator.
- Alongside MCC, conduct regular field visits to collect high quality content including photos, videos, and interviews.
- Produce, upload, and ensure organized filing of multimedia content for internal and external platforms on a regular basis that improves the quality of NRC Syria visibility both internally and externally.
- Identify and develop human interest stories in line with NRC guidelines and ethical storytelling principles.
- Mentor and coach relevant staff, including area focal points, to regularly and strategically gather content in line with NRC Syria priorities, guidelines and ethical considerations.
- Analysis complex programme and humanitarian information and design of creative and newsworthy products into accessible, creative, newsworthy communication that support NRC's visibility.
- Pitch media stories and facilitate interviews with relevant staff and stakeholders.
- Systematically build the capacity of field teams through training and on the job support in storytelling, photography, and communications practices.
- Collaborate with programme and grants teams to produce compliant visibility and donor communications materials.

**What you will bring**
- **Minimum five years of experience in media and communications within an NGO** or similar context (inside Syria preferred).
- **Relevant university degree** with demonstrated skills in communications, content development, storytelling, media, and interviewing.
- Extensive **experience managing social media platforms and digital communications**, including measuring data analytics for impact.
- Significant **experience producing high-quality content for traditional media and working with the press**.
- **Proven photography and videography skills**, including short-form and editing under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated **ability to train, mentor, and collaborate with diverse teams**.
- **Proficiency in English and Arabic**, both spoken, and written.
- Extensive analytical and computer skills including MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Data Analytics or visualization tools, video editing (including short-form production), producing multimedia content for digital platforms, analytics tools to assess performance, and experience working with visual identity and brand guidelines.
- Excellent **communication and interpersonal skills**.
- Strong **understanding of impactful storytelling and visibility techniques**.
- Strong organization, filing, planning, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- High level of **self-awareness, professionalism, and confidentiality**.
- **Excellent writing skills** in Arabic and English (Kurdish a plus)

- Travel: Approximately 50% to areas of operation.
